Shay Williams was born and raised in Boston, MA where she began her Hip Hop dance training at the age of 9 with Urban Connections Dance Company. At the age of 14, she became a member of Lady Quo (the female counterpart to the America’s Best Dance Crew finalist from “Season 1” Status Quo) where she began to hone in on her passion for dance and her love of choreography. In 2010, she moved to New Jersey, where she attended Montclair State University to study Sociology and Dance and went on to graduate with honors and two degrees, one of them being her BFA in Dance. While attending MSU, she focused on Ballet and Modern techniques and had the opportunity of working with master teachers, Jay T. Jenkins, Elizabeth McPhearson, Karen Gale, and Joao Carvalho. Shay has apprenticed with the dance company, The Dance Cartel, and is currently a member of Brukwine Gyals and The Bachanalists, both Reggae and Soca dance based companies. She has toured and performed as a backup dancer for the up and coming artist J-Line and has been cast in many music videos and flash mobs. While in college, Shay also became founder, director and choreographer of the all girls dance crew, X-Quisite. As a teacher, one must always remain current, and Shay prides herself on growing by consistently auditioning, training and performing. She is well versed in Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Reggae/Soca and Jazz Funk.
