Progressive Dance Studio’s is pleased to announce our new Performing Arts program. Our performing arts program is for the child interested in the enjoyment of musical theater and who has an appreciation for Broadway musicals and plays. 

Our Intro to Musical Theatre class offers students the opportunity to expand their acting and theater skills through individual scene work and singing Broadway musical songs.

The Intro to Musical Theatre class consists of acting exercises and vocal scales plus a short body warm up.  Students use scenes and songs from current and classical Broadway shows such as “Peter Pan” ,“High School Musical”,  and “School of Rock”  to name a few.

The curriculmn consists of two segments:  


  • Technique: focused on building skills in acting, singing, light movement and learning to act through a song.
  • Performance: Students put into action the techniques they have learned to further develop and enhance their skills.

In our Intro to Musical Theatre class, student’s will find a deeper understanding of acting, performing as a character and staging. Students learn and practice scenes and songs from current and classical Broadway shows such as “Peter Pan”,  “High School Musical” and “School of Rock” to name a few. The class will culminate in an in-house performance for parents and friends.  

The skills and knowledge students learn in our Intro to Musical Theatre class go beyond acting and singing. Students also acquire a strong sense of self and build confidence while becoming more socially comfortable and outgoing. 

Our classes are small to ensure private individual attention to each child, giving them the opportunity to be challenged and to grow in a fun, intimate environment. 

Intro to Musical Theatre classes are offered are for ages 7-12 and meet weekly for two hours on Saturdays from 10:30 -12:30pm.
